Im Beitrag von vorgestern war die Rede von Herrn "Oberpacker" Sautter. Was hat es damit auf sich? Nun, auf dem heutigen Bild sehen wir die Maschine (im Heimatmuseum Eningen) mit welcher die zum Versand vorgesehenen Bäume "eingepackt" wurden. Mittels Drehbewegung wurden so die Wurzeln und Stämme mit Stroh umwickelt, damit die Pflanzen den langen Transport von der Baumschule zum Kunden unbeschadet überstehen konnten. Die Wurzeln der Bäume sind frost- und zugluftgefährdet. Die Bäume wurden zu jener Zeit grösstenteils mit der Bahn speditiert und waren daher länger unterwegs als heutzutage mit dem (geschlossenen) LKW. Beim "Einpacken" der Bäume war somit größte Sorgfalt vonnöten. Die Maschine ist eine sogenannte "Ballotmaschine", franz. "Ballot": soviel wie "Ballen".pw/Foto: pw
